Application Process

Seasonal or special events all require application and approval by City of Monroe Staff.  Applications are available at the City of Monroe Building Counter (734-384-9186) at 120 East First Street.  The fee structure is available here.  Requirements are described in the Planning and Zoning Code Section 1269.25.  Applications must be received at least sixty (60) days prior to the event.  Those requests for City service assistance will be negotiated during the review of the application.

First floor banquet room that features a full bar and kitchen that caters a menu specifically designed for each celebration.  A door adjoins Beek’s Bar & Grille providing the option to expand the celebration into the bar atmosphere.  The non-smoking room features space for 75 people to celebrate any event.  Historic tin ceilings add to the sophisticated décor.  Palmer Room is available for renting 7 days a week.

Historic Sawyer Homestead

A charming Italianate home constructed in 1873, which holds great history in the Monroe area, the Historic Sawyer Homestead features an outdoor gazebo and is available for weddings, receptions, meetings, luncheons and gatherings of all kinds.  All proceeds from rentals are used for the maintenance and operations of the building.

River Raisin Centre for the Arts

The Historic River Raisin Centre for the Arts theatre and annex areas are available for rental for a variety of activities including lectures, receptions, and more.  Due to scheduled shows and classes, rental is subject to availability.

Outdoor Facilities

Those persons interested in renting a public park area/shelter must submit an application to the Parks and Recreation Department. Applications are available in the Parks and Recreation office (734-384-9156) at 120 East First Street on the second floor and listed under “Recreation” and “Park Shelter Rental” here. Facilities for some activities can also be reserved online by setting up an account during the reservation process. There is a fee associated with the rental which is refundable once the facility is cleaned and any keys returned.

Rental of the Pavilion in Loranger Square is organized through the County of Monroe Finance Department located on the second floor of 125 East Second Street.  Rental of the Pavilion can be requested by calling 734-240-7250 or visiting the County of Monroe website.  There is a fee associated with the rental.
